Arethusa, ZAK+FOX’s latest collection of sheers, takes its name from a nymph of Arcadian myth. Fleeing the advances of the river god Alpheus, Arethusa begged the goddess Artemis for shelter. Hearing her pleas, Artemis tore the clouds from the sky and veiled Arethusa within them, protecting her from Alpheus’ devious pursuits.

As much as it obscures its subject, a sheer reveals just enough for the viewer to reconstruct a greater whole from fragments of their own memories. The familiar is there, but it is blurred and sensual — a hazy composition in which we ascribe what we desire upon its spectre.
