SYCOMORUS

Inspired by a gouache painting fragment, Sycomorus is an imagined creation, with loosely sketched borders evoking a rich forest stretching beyond its canvas. Within a bower of twisted branches, curling leaves and petals flutter gently against gnarled wood. A splendor of figs split open, vibrant, and abundant, inviting a host of Lilliputian creatures to wander and explore. Caterpillars creep towards this promise of sustenance – ripe fruit hanging languorously in the summer heat. Verdant green sweetness flirts with the breeze, luring the insects of this marvelous woodland to linger longer and rest in the shadows.
