TEMPESTA

For a moment, the earth seems to stand at a distance from itself. Lightning, like a metronome, counts the beats of the tempest, shattering the sky with a blinding flash of white light. Each *BANG!* and *BOOM!* is preceded by a slice of heaven itself, splitting the earth in two and illuminating the landscape with a paralytic strobe, leaving everything tight and immovable – a momentous, miraculous millisecond. The storm is tumultuous, beating down with flood waters on a broken landscape; above clouds roil and heave in the sky like some celestial fluid churning with the angst of the Gods, as though they’re sending a message to humanity below.
